Social Youth Outreach Program

“Our leaders of tomorrow”

Mandate:

To improve immediate and long term social, economic and health outcomes for Aboriginal Youth living off reserve between the ages of 16-19 years to access services to meet their individual needs.

What Youth Outreach Program Offers:

Youth Outreach Program main role is to support the holistic needs of pour Aboriginal youth province wide in realizing and achieving their goals when facing multiple challenges. This program assists youth in finding and utilizing the resources in partnership with community service providers to reduce barriers by offering services such as:

  • Drop-In
  • Crisis management
  • Education of families/youth to encourage healthy lifestyles
  • Programs and workshops
  • Referrals and linkages
  • Mentoring
  • Accompaniment
  • Outreach
  • Family work/support
  • Cultural Teachings

The Native Council of Nova Scotia is the self-governing authority for the large community of Mi’kmaq/Aboriginal peoples residing off-reserve in Nova Scotia throughout traditional Mi’kmaq territory. Our goal is to operate and administer a strong and effective Aboriginal Peoples Representative Organization that serves, advocates and represents our community.
